15/08/24 eBike Tour in the Moselle Region

It's been a while since I last rode through the vineyards. With a client planning a tour there soon, I thought yesterday would be the perfect day for a reconnaissance trip. The weather was great, and the sun was shining despite a few clouds in the sky ☀️🌤️.

For the occasion, I brought my partner along because biking together is always better 😊. So, we rented eBikes on-site to fully enjoy the cycling paths and trails through the vineyards.

We started from Mondorf-les-Bains, as our future client requested. Like a dress rehearsal, I completed this 20km route in real conditions to accurately time it and assess the quality of the path.

The vineyards are steep! For those who haven't been, I assure you some of the climbs are quite challenging and will make even the most seasoned cyclists' quadriceps burn 🔥. Clearly, we opted for eBikes on this tour to give everyone a chance to participate without collapsing from the effort.

The Moselle region offers a stunning natural spectacle with its hillsides, breathtaking valley views, and always in the background, the Moselle River, separating us from Germany 🌄🌊. The vineyards give off a vacation vibe, with a climate perfectly suited for it. It's truly a pleasure to ride there. However, I advise against venturing into the vineyards without a map, it's a total maze, and without a plan, you'll find yourself at dead ends quite often. Personally, I meticulously plan my route in advance and follow my GPS track to the letter 🗺️📍.

Our tour ended after a good hour and a half, passing along the Jhangeli bike path, which runs along the old steam train route. We passed by its old station, or rather, its two old stations, as both buildings are still standing 🚂🏢. A kind lady living in the first station gave us some valuable tips before we continued on our way. It was also here that we met other tourists with the same eBikes, following the "Velo Summer" trail set up by our tourist board to promote cycling tourism in our country 🚴‍♀️🌞.

After the tour, we had the chance to stop by some friends' place for a beer... but that's another story 😄🍻.

Enjoy!
